Owls everywhere on the square

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

So we were sitting out on the balcony around 8:30 pm on Saturday night.  The cars were going by, Frank Sinatra was singing his heart out on the loudspeakers that fill the square with music, and we were relaxing.  There are a pair of owls that live in one of the trees on our corner of the square.  I think they are barn owls.  I’m always waiting to see them come out for their evening meal and flying time.  They fly around the courthouse and head off to find something good to eat and then show back up later.  .  .  .  well not this time.  I saw my neighbor owls start flying around the courthouse this time, but more and more big white wings kept showing up over the course of a few minutes, I couldn’t keep track of them all.  There were at least 10 owls swooping around the square from every direction.  It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  I don’t know if this is a common occurrence but I’ll keep you posted.
